Verdasys Positioned in the “Leaders” Quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention

Verdasys Positioned in the “Leaders” Quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention

WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 16, 2013 – Verdasys, provider of Enterprise Information Protection (EIP) solutions and managed services for Global 2000 and mid-sized companies, announced today it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Leaders” quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention (DLP).[1]  Verdasys provides the most complete, scalable platform for protecting intellectual property and other sensitive data against insider threat and malware attacks on endpoints.  Additionally, Verdasys is the only provider in this edition of the Gartner Magic Quadrant that offers its software as a service for organizations that need an alternative to an on-premise solution.

“Our mission is to protect corporate and government data from any risk whether it comes from inside an organization or outside,” said Verdasys CEO Jim Ricotta.  “Now, with the acceleration of our cloud-based managed service, we offer to any sized enterprise the same data visibility and control we enable in some of the world’s largest corporations.”

Verdasys Digital Guardian is the only data protection platform combining both insider threat and cyber threat defense in a single, integrated platform.   It is used by government agencies around the world, as well as Global 2000 companies including seven of the top  10 U.S. patent holders, where it protects more than a trillion dollars worth of intellectual property and trade secrets.  Digital Guardian is unique in its ability to see and stop malicious actions by users and malware on endpoints.  The software puts data events into context and applies a granular set of rules to protect it against all types of threats.

According to the report:

“Gartner defines content-aware DLP technologies as those that perform content inspection of data at rest or in motion, and can execute responses — ranging from simple notification to active blocking — based on policy settings.  To be considered for this Magic Quadrant, products must support sophisticated detection techniques that extend beyond simple keyword matching and regular expressions and be considered Enterprise DLP solutions.

“This is different from non-content-aware DLP solutions, or simple DLP solutions, often referred to as just “DLP” in vendor offerings. Non-content-aware DLP solutions apply a policy without reviewing the content or context of what is being monitored.  Magic Quadrant vendors must also be determined by Gartner to be significant players in the market because of market presence or technology innovation.”
