‘Amazon.com for alcohol’ app Drizly expands to Seattle

Drizly, the Boston-based creator of an alcohol delivery service mobile app available in several cities, is expected to launch Thursday in Seattle, the home base of e-commerce giant Amazon.

It’s the ninth city the startup has expanded into. Drizly has already has operations into Boston, New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, Washington D.C., Austin, and Indianapolis.

Digital Guardian enters world of mobile and cloud data security with Armor5 acquisition

Waltham-based security software firm Digital Guardian, which rebranded from Verdasys this past August, said Thursday that it acquired California-based mobile security startup Armor5 as the company moved into securing data on mobile devices.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Armor5’s technology secures data on a mobile device and in the cloud, focusing specifically on preventing employees who bring their own device to work from copying and removing company files or data. Digital Guardian’s current technology can protect data from internal and external threats, but hasn’t been focused on mobile until this point.

SocialFlow for Agencies launches to bring ad buying back into the fold

An increasing number of agencies are outsourcing work such as paid search, display advertising, and search engine optimization to third parties. While farming out business is not a new concept, there are a number of possible pitfalls ahead if agencies get the balance between external and internal resources wrong.

With these potential problems in mind, SocialFlow has today released a new platform, SocialFlow for Agencies. I asked the company’s CEO, Jim Anderson, to give me a guided tour of the product via Skype.

I started by asking Anderson why SocialFlow has brought this product to market.

“Agencies have essentially been outsourcing, in increasing numbers, their social and paid media buying to other agencies and freelancers,” Anderson said.
