Cocona® 37.5® And Point6 Announce Partnership

by Jeremy Solomons | in News

37.5 LogoCocona® 37.5® And Point6 Announce PartnershipFor New Line Of Advanced Wool Socks

Point6 and Cocona® announced today an exclusive partnership for wool socks powered by 37.5® technology. Merino wool is one of the top performance fabrics in the outdoor industry, so combining wool with 37.5 nylon creates a higher level of performance sock that delays the onset of sweat, dries faster, increases comfort, and helps control odor.

“Wool is Mother Nature’s miracle fiber, thanks to moisture, temperature, and odor controlling properties,” says Peter Duke, Point6 CEO. “Bringing 37.5 technology fiber into the mix elevates wool’s benefits to a whole new level.”

Managing the microclimate next to the foot extends the user’s comfort range and improves cooling. An in-depth study conducted by the Department of Physiology at the University of Colorado, Boulder reported that by changing from a wicking shirt to a 37.5 shirt athletes extended their performance and reduced their core temperature build up. This same technology can now be found in socks.

The team at Point6 worked with scientists from Cocona to perfect the combination of 37.5 particles with nylon. By layering the 37.5 nylon between 100% compact spun New Zealand Merino wool, Point6 can make a sock that maintains a comfortable level of humidity by delaying the onset of sweat and drying faster, even during high-intensity exercise.

“Peter Duke has had a long and successful history as an innovator with merino wool, so it was exciting to partner with Point 6 on this development,” said Jeff Bowman, CEO of Cocona Inc. “The product they’ve created is fantastic; 37.5 fibers pair very well with natural fibers, turbocharging the inherent properties of merino.”

The active particles in patented 37.5 fiber are permanently embedded in the nylon fabric of the socks and won’t wash out. These active particles provide 800% more surface area to the fiber, while providing a unique driving force to remove moisture vapor unlike any other technology. The particles, naturally derived from coconut shells and volcanic sand, capture heat from the body’s infrared energy to speed evaporation and significantly reduce dry-time.

“Adding 37.5 technology to our socks makes Point6 a far superior product to all other wool socks,” says Duke. “Period!”

Point6 will introduce nine styles powered by 37.5 technology for Spring 2017, plus several tactical styles that are being developed for the military.

Ramp Offers New Features and New Names for VideoVerge Platform

by Jeremy Solomons | in News

Ramp LogoEnterprise video company Ramp debuts new features for its VideoVerge for SharePoint platform today. The goal, the company says, is letting clients get more value from their videos while helping SharePoint users communicate.

VideoVerge for SharePoint is now compatible with SharePoint 2016, joining the previous SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2013. The platform can now import videos in any format and from any location. This is essential, the company says, as video is now found all across the enterprise.

The platform now offers automated multi-language translation and closed captioning, a boon to multi-lingual global companies. SharePoint users only need to select a language and the platform will create video captions. Thanks to a partnership with Yammer, VideoVerge also now lets users hold live chat sessions during a webcast.

Ramp has tweaked the names of its VideoVerge offerings: The platform includes VideoVerge Manager (formerly known as Ramp Video Management) and VideoVerge Live (formerly known as Ramp Video Live).

“Ramp has brought together live and on-demand video natively within SharePoint, so enterprises don’t need to struggle with bolt-on solutions and can leverage all the benefits of their SharePoint implementation,” says Tom Racca, Ramp’s CEO. “Now video from any source can be treated and searched like any other document down to a single phrase. In addition, this latest release supports SharePoint 2016.”

For those that missed it, Ramp sold its media business to Cxense in January, and Racca came in as Ramp’s CEO. Tom Wilde, Ramp’s previous CEO, is now a general manager at Cxense.

Cylance® Announces $100 Million Series D Funding

by Jeremy Solomons | in News

New Investment to Accelerate Cylance’s Broad Adoption and Expand Its Global Reach

Cylance, the first cyber security company to successfully apply artificial intelligence algorithms to predictively identify and stop malware and advanced threats, today announces that it has completed the initial closing of a $100 million Series D funding round led by funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and Insight Venture Partners and included follow-on investments by the company’s existing investors including us.

The funding will be used to support the company’s rapid business growth by expanding sales, marketing and engineering programs for Cylance endpoint protection go-to-market strategies. Since its introduction, Cylance has experienced record growth with product billings and customer growth of 1089 percent and 785 percent respectively, propelling the company to achieve its mission many years earlier than anticipated. In its Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) earlier this year, Gartner called Cylance “the fastest growing EPP startup in the past ten years.”

Today CylancePROTECT® is protecting millions of endpoints and over 1,000 customers from never before seen attacks, i.e., zero-days, preventing these customers from downtime, distraction and brand tarnishing. The product is uniquely able to identify and prevent zero-days and other forms of advanced and targeted attacks currently impacting businesses and government agencies worldwide, thereby eliminating the need for individual security teams to analyze and develop expertise in defending against each new cyberattack. CylancePROTECT is actively protecting countless, once-previous victims of attacks, all without the need for cloud-supported conviction or regular updates.

“We’re enthusiastic about supporting the terrific management team at Cylance, a company well-positioned for growth with a strong foundation in the cyber-security space,” said Viral Patel, a Managing Director in Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities. “Cylance’s strong track record, including at Blackstone portfolio companies, deepens our conviction in the value that this platform can offer across sectors.”

“We have been tracking Cylance since they came to market, and are thrilled to be partnering with them,” said Mike Triplett, Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners. “Cylance’s team and technology have delivered on exactly what they’ve promised: elegant and effective prevention at the endpoint, in addition to impressive customers and growth.”

“We founded Cylance almost four years ago with a singular mission: protect those who cannot protect themselves, and empower those who can,” said Cylance CEO Stuart McClure. “Our goal of reinventing endpoint security by using machine learning to think like a cyber hacker has been achieved and we now must ensure that it is put in the hands of security leaders inside enterprises, organizations, governments and small businesses as quickly as possible.”

Prelert Partners with GuidePoint Security to Enhance vSOC Service

by Jeremy Solomons | in News

Prelert LogoAdvanced Machine Learning-Based Behavioral Analytics Enhance Threat Detection Capabilities of GuidePoint’s Security Platform as a Service

Prelert, the leading provider of behavioral analytics for IT security, IT operations and business operations teams, and GuidePoint Security LLC, a provider of cybersecurity solutions for commercial and federal organizations, have announced a joint partnership that enables GuidePoint Security clients to successfully achieve their security missions.

GuidePoint Security has partnered with Prelert to enhance the capabilities of GuidePoint Security’s Virtual Security Operations Center (vSOC) managed service. Through the partnership, vSOC clients gain access to Prelert’s behavioral analytics platform, including its library of pre-configured analytics use cases. The solution has already been deployed with numerous vSOC clients.

“Information security teams are dealing with an increasing amount of security-related data, further taxing their already over-extended personnel,” said Justin Morehouse, Co-Founder & Principal, GuidePoint Security. “We are pleased to add Prelert’s capabilities to our vSOC, improving our clients’ attack detection coverage and assisting vSOC’s validation process to reduce client alerts by nearly 90 percent. This addition further empowers our vSOC clients to focus in on the threats that are most likely to impact their business – and quickly take steps to resolve them.”

GuidePoint Security vSOC clients can now take advantage of Prelert’s parameterized use case configurations, which provide security and behavioral analytics “recipes” that use Prelert’s machine learning-based analytics capabilities to detect attack behaviors present in the client’s data. As one of the first vendors to publish a library of pre-configured use cases for detecting elementary attack behaviors, Prelert enables GuidePoint Security’s vSOC clients to quickly gain insight into behaviors associated with advanced threats, delivering even greater value from their managed security service.

“GuidePoint Security’s vSOC is an impressive security platform as a service, and is helping their clients quickly identify critical security incidents before they become a costly and disruptive problem,” said Mark Jaffe, CEO, Prelert. “We’re thrilled that GuidePoint Security has chosen to use our machine learning technology and pre-configured use cases to enhance their vSOC offering, enabling early detection of elementary attack behaviors before they progress to costly security incidents.”
